What We Believe
Who we are striving to be:
We, the gathered disciples of Christ, recognize that we each have been given a calling to minister to a person or group that only we are gifted and placed to do. We as the church come together in order to encourage one another, to teach one another and to worship together. But as the church we understand that we also leave our gatherings to be the scattered church in the ordinary lives we all lead; at work, in our homes or through any community group we may belong to. Each follower of Jesus is a ‘minister’ in a variety of situations, and is given unique opportunities as led by the Spirit of God.
Our corporate image (beside) symbolises the purpose of coming together each week. We come together (like a reunion) to worship God, gathered around our Saviour Jesus. We do not ‘go to church’ but instead the church comes together. Our purpose is to be involved in the many varied groups in the wider community of Echuca and district. Our focus is outward. In each of these groups are opportunities to witness to the grace and love of God. Through obedience, faithfulness, honesty and through character moulded by Christ we ‘preach’ the gospel; using words if necessary.
To this end, we endeavor to publicly recognize and pray for our ‘ministers’ each Sunday gathering. We wish to encourage, equip and pray for the ministries each have been given and for the boldness to proclaim the Gospel of God in the community we live in.
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth. As you sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” John 17:15-18
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:16 & 17
